Strength of Spirit Games:
Rehabilitation Triathlon

Hosted by the Royal Navy

The Strength of Spirit Games – Rehabilitation Triathlon, hosted by the Royal Navy, is set to return to Plymouth Hoe and Tinside Lido this summer. As part of Armed Forces Week celebrations, the triathlon will take place on Thursday 25 June 2026.

Join us to show your support for the incredible participants in this Tri-Service adaptive recovery event for personnel in recovery and a cohort of Service Veterans* who will compete in swim, bike, and rowing events. Witness their unwavering determination and commitment in this truly inspiring event.

Event Information

Date

The event will be held on Thursday 25 June 2026, running from 11am to 5pm. Additional timings will be shared closer to the event.

Location

Activities will take place on Plymouth Hoe, including rowing, cycling, stalls, the Junior Rowing Challenge and the awards ceremony. Swimming events will be hosted at Tinside Lido.

Refreshments

C&G Catering will be on site offering a variety of food and drink, including hot meals such as wood-fired pizza, along with ice cream, cakes, and a selection of hot and cold beverages.

Veterans Eligibility Criteria

There are 30 places available for veterans to compete in the Tri-Service Rehabilitation Triathlon 2026. You must make sure you meet the eligibility criteria: 

  • Military connection - You must be a veteran of the Armed Forces

  • You must have a physical or mental health condition that occurred during or as a result of your service

  • Must present an Armed Forces Veteran’s Card at registration on the day of competition*

Race Details

Swimming at Tinside Lido

The action kicks off at 11am from the historic Tinside Lido, a Grade II listed, Art Deco saltwater pool with breath-taking views of Plymouth Sound National Marine Park. Fully accessible, this iconic venue provides the perfect setting for the opening swim.

Cycling on Plymouth Hoe 

Competitors will then take to the Hoe promenade, navigating a thrilling cycle course that runs across and around the back of Plymouth Hoe.

Rowing Challenge 

The final stage will see participants battle it out on static rowing machines before making their way to the finishing line.

Awards Ceremony 

The main stage will host the all-important awards ceremony, where competitors will be recognised for their achievements and receive their well-deserved awards. The ceremony will begin with a Military band performance.

Junior Rowing Challenge 

For the third year running, we welcome 150 children from military families, as they take part in the thrilling Junior Rowing Challenge on Plymouth Hoe, and organised by the Plymouth School Sports Partnership, on Plymouth Hoe. This exciting event will have pupils from over 24 primary schools competing in the demanding rowing challenge.

 

Come and cheer them on from 10am to 11.15am with their awards ceremony taking place on the main stage at 11.45am​
