HMS Queen Elizabeth at Armed Forces Day
HMS Queen Elizabeth has been in Plymouth Sound during Armed Forces Week, and will still be moored by the breakwater on Armed Forces Day, creating a beautiful backdrop to the event.
The 280-metre long ship has been in Plymouth to undertake a Sea Training package with the Flag Officer Sea Training (FOST) work up, which all Royal Navy ships do as part of their operational capability programme.
Every ship, whatever size, are subjected to a FOST training package and can expect intense scrutiny and an inspection of all their Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs). In fact, the FOST programme is recognised worldwide as the ‘best’, so they will be working in and around Plymouth for the next few weeks.
